CONTEXT
Youtube’s race with TikTok is heating up
While TikTok leads in native short-form creators, Youtube needs to start playing catch up if it wants to keep up in the video space
BUSINESS PROBLEM
Trailer-like clips on Shorts are extremely valuable for Youtube
Short-form video alone has low RPM rates, so Shorts that funnel users back to long-form is great for the bottom line (Youtube splits ad revenue 50/50)
USER PROBLEM
But Youtubers are struggling to keep up with short-form creation
My research showed that they need help managing this addition to their weekly production load
HYPOTHESE
There is an opportunity for Youtube to intervene
The solution is to build a way for youtubers to effortlessly turn their pre-existing long-form video content into Shorts
And in turn, help shape Shorts into a more profitable avenue of business
